the Largest Sand Island in the World

Eli Fraser Island! Tein tossa viime vuoden puolella pienen roadtripin yksikseen ja ajoin Rainbow Beachille. Yövyin ensimmäisen yön hostellissa, josta sitten seuraavana aamuna lähdettiin, parin autollisen kera seikkailunhaluisia retkeiljöitä, tuolle kuuluisalle hiekkasaarelle.

Fraser Island! I went on a road trip last year to Rainbow Beach. After a night in a hostel we headed to that famous sand island in the morning with a couple of cars full of adventurous backpackers.

Noh, eihän me edes pitkälle päästy kun eka auto jäi jumiin hiekkaan.

Well, we didn't even get far until the first car got stuck in the sand.

Mieli lepäs kyllä noissa maisemissa, vaikkakin oli hieman uhkaavia pilviä. Seuraavana yönä oli vaan vähän epämukavaa nukkua teltassa. Satoi meinaan "pikkasen" haha.

It was so peaceful up there, even though there was a little bit of threatening clouds. It was quite uncomfortable to sleep in a tent the next night as it was raining a "little" bit.

Ja tältä näyttää laiva, joka on ollu tossa samassa paikassa 80 vuotta.

And this is how a ship looks like when it has been in a same spot for 80 years.

Kolme päivää ajeltiin ympäri saarta mahtavan porukan kanssa. Välillä jäätiin jumiin ties mihin, välillä pompittiin takapenkillä kuin kumipallot tien ollessa kuoppaisa, samaan aikaan jammaillen lempparibiisejä. Hauskaa oli!

We drove around the island for 3 days with an amazing group of people. Sometimes we were getting stuck in who knows what, other times we were jumping up from the back seat like little balls because of the bumpy road. All whilst jamming to our favorite songs.  It was a lot of fun!

Sää ei ihan kauheasti meitä suosinut, ei se kuitenkaan menoa haitannut.

The weather did not favor us but it didn't affect our goings-on either.

Noina kolmena päivänä tolla saarella tuli nähtyä ja tehytyä niiin paljon. Me makoiltiin yöllä upean tähtitaivaan alla rannalla (peläten dingoja, mitä en onnekseni tai itseasiassa harmikseni nähnyt yhtäkään). Lennettiin pienkoneella ympäri saarta, juotiin viiniä ja tanssittiin todellakin in the middle of nowhere eri puolilta maailmaa olevien ihmisten kanssa. Ja kaikki noi upeat paikat mitä käytiin tutkimassa! Fraser you were amazing. Hahhah kuitenkaan mainitsematta, kuinka hirveetä siellä teltassa oli herätä keskellä yötä kun joku kamala ötökkä yritti tunkeutua mun silmään?! Sen lisäks että ulkona oli kaamea sade/ukkosmyrsky meneillään. Kuitenkin niin kokemuksen arvoinen reissu jälleen, että sanoisin sen olleen sen arvoista.

Those three days included so many things to see and experience. We were lying under the stars at the beach worrying about dingoes. Luckily they did not appear. However I would've liked to see at least one..(from a nice safe distance!). We flew in a small plane above the island, drank wine and danced in the middle of nowhere with different people from around the world. What beautiful places we explored! Fraser you were amazing. Hahhah but not forgetting how horrible it was to wake up in the middle of night because some terrifying insect tried to get into my eye?! In addition that there was a huge thunder storm going on outside. Anyway it was totally worth it.
